Easiest way to make your apartment look and feel more cozy?

Here in NYC, space is such a commodity. We have more stuff than we have space more often than not. The late comedian George Carlin used to say we move just to get more space for all our stuff. As I get older, I think he might have been 100% correct!

Aside from getting rid of everything or putting our treasures in storage, what are some low-cost, easy ways to make our homes feel more cozy--even if it is just an illusion?

Fresh coat of paint?
Flowers or plants?
Mood lighting?

I'm a huge fan of lighting. Trying to take advantage of as much natural light, and similar artificial light tones, as possible. Harsh whites give off a cold, impersonal feel to me--more industrial than residential. I love the classic Edison style bulbs as well.

I also like to change up my color scheme every couple of years. White is so boring. A bit of color goes a long, long way!

Anything to make the illusion that the room is gleaming in natural sunlight or is close to nature... especially in NY the best way to relax and feel cozy is to surround yourself with light and green!

So generally a lot of plants, wood (whether it's hard wood flooring, or wooden tables, chairs, or decorative pieces), and a soft couch with a colourful blanket thrown on top.

There are also many inexpensive house plants that are easy to take care of and that you can purchase and they just do a lot to the atmosphere of the room.

well, everyone has different taste as you said that you are a huge fan of lighting so naturally, you will decorate your home with colorful lights which is a good thought.
For decoration, we can also add some greenery to our house, color of paint, designer curtains.Add knick knacks, family photos, candles lamps.All these things help us in making our house cozier.
