Who has the best Realtor website, and why?

I love BuzzBuzzHomes. In fact, I spend a large percentage of my day surfing new projects, reading the blogs, and dibble-dabbling in the forums.

However, it is not a Realtor website.

So, who has the best Realtor website and what makes it so amazing? While I am from Vancouver, I would love to hear about websites across Canada, the US and international.

So, who has the best Realtor website and why???????

There is a new real estate site for BC, Canada, so they have MLS listings for Vancouver and lots of other BC cities. This site has a pretty good design and there are a great number of searching tools. So, it's really easy to use it. Check it out here: http://www.movety.com/

^^ bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... it is BuzzBuzzHome, not BuzzBuzzHomes!! But, thanks for the love.
Some realtor websites that we love (in no particular order):
TalkCondo - www.TalkCondo.com
Nice clean interface, good information. Unique concept for a real-estate agent.
Savel Sells - www.savelsells.com and http://savelblogs.com/
Great and insightful content. The blog also cracks me up at time. Great personality.
Move Smartly - www.realosophy.com and www.movesmartly.com
Really clean and crisp design. And, I love the content on the blog and main website. Totally wicked resource.
Real Experts - http://realexpertsinc.blogspot.com
Okay. Okay.. Brian is not a realtor, but dang! His info is wicked.
Properties by Manny - http://propertiesbymanny.com

Braun Allison - www.braunallison.com/blog
Again, not a Realtor... but, their blogs always enlighten me regarding real-estate and marketing. Love it.
There are a lot of other great ones out there, but those are the top of mind to me. Why? Because content is king, and their stuff is always spot-on.

Paul Johnston's site is one of my favorites: pauljohnston.com
Simple, bold, clean design. No clutter. Listings presented in a visually compelling manner.
Effective, to the point. Used to browse his site daily when I was house hunting.
Andrew Lafleur's site: truecondos.com
Original content, updated frequently. Every development is given a positive slant, which is my only gripe
with the site. Which brings me to the next site:
http://www.torontorealtyblog.com/
The single most brutally honest realtor blog in existence and getting more brutal with each post.
Refreshing change of pace from realtors who wax poetic about each and every new development
and balk at criticizing developers (especially the larger ones). Makes for a great read.

LOL we were JUST discussing this same topic on Facebook - Barry Lebow (real estate veteran from Toronto) asked the same question and there are like 20 responses.
Leonard - thanks for the shout out! We appreciate the early feedback - we're hoping to have it ready to fire in the next week or so but have been getting great feedback during our "soft" launch.
A couple other sites that popped up in the discussion on Facebook:
1. www.talkcondo.com ::cough cough::
2. www.valenterealestate.com (webtechdezine template website)
3. www.richardsilver.com (another webtechdezine template site that has a lot of SEO done)
4. http://cabbagetown.addysaeed.com - micro-targets the Cabbagetown area - lots of good info for that neighbourhood
5. www.benjaminbach.com
6. www.truecondos.com
7. www.realosophy.com / www.movesmartly.com
8. www.savelblogs.com
I don't frequent too many realtor sites because most of them are templated sites that aren't touched - nothing new and nothing useful on those sites that I can't get elsewhere - but these are a few that I frequent.

Actually realtor.ca has a pretty restrictive listings format, particularly for the public. From a house hunter's perspective, I appreciate a more tailored, interesting listing presentation, with neighborhood info, floorplans, etc.
Julie's site has an old-fashioned, Pop Tate's approach to this. It shouldn't work but it does. Paul does a great job presenting his listings via a more minimalist approach.

I couldn't agree more. I just wish that the Canadian system was more open, like the US. Then we would have really awesome Realtor websites, like www.redfin.com with all sorts of added extras.
Check out www.hotpads.com as an example.

Wanted to clarify my previous post:
If the listings are the AGENT's listings, not just listings culled from the MLS or the listings of the entire brokerage, then I'm all for them being presented in an informative, interesting manner. If they're random listings scraped from the MLS, then they become an annoyance.

My point was more to do with the templated sites re: Listings. Since they all pull from the same database that Realtor.ca pulls from they are all the same. Having separate listings for the agents listing is fine but I find them to be quickly outdated and difficult to keep on top of....
I love the concept of having www.youraddress.com for individual listings....

He meant having the address of the listing within the url as the website. So if you lived on 60 Fifeshire Avenue,
the listing website would be www.60fifeshire.com
Makes the listing seem more personalised, more important and doesn't compete with other listings and information.

Wow. This turned into a really fantastic and informative conversation! I am especially finding the conversation on whether or not a Realtor should have listings the most intriguing.
Personally, I never look at a Realtors listings on their website. I would rather go to Realtor.ca.
I find the Realtor blogs to be of most interest. Surfing the blogs gives an amazing insight into the market and what is happening. It is like having your ear to the ground around the entire industry, which is something that no newspaper has ever been able to achieve.
From their blogs, you can sort out the Realtors you like, agree with, and trust, and know who to call when it is time to move!
I do agree with Moo, that the US sites (as shown above) offer a lot more information and usability than Realtor.ca for listings.

A little bit off topic....

A perfect segway for the convo to swing back...
I'd say I prefer Blogs over Listing sites for most of the reasons stated above! Thanks to all who mentioned my own (SavelBlogs.com) though I DON'T think my SavelSells one is all that awesome... it's just a simple templated layout used to showcase listings. In my humble opinion, I'd have to say my photoblog is much cooooooler! - http://savelandthecity.posterous.com/ the photos usually say more than the posts I write.
Now that I got most of the vanity out of my system, here are my top pics and why:
Paul Johnstons - His website is as good as it gets when it comes to unique listings. If a listing is worth any architectural merit you'll find it here. I have tons of respect for anyone who's passionate about their niche market and Paul is definitely doing that! I remeber reading somewhere that if Paul doesn't think you listing is unique, he won't take it! I give it four Adobe bricks out of five!
Talkcondo.com - these guys won me over when I saw their detailed analysis of preconstruction projects. Their posts are written in a very honest way and are gaining a ton of attention...how do I know this? I've seen their content on others site...always a great sign that you're doing something right! It's still fairly new...but i'm beefing up my blog in preparation of all the great content they'll be pumping up in the near future
Truecondos.com - Andrew's site was one of the first Toronto Real estate blogs I ever read... he does cover a lot of precon as mentioned above, but every once and a while he breaks out an opinionated blog posting that's often interesting and engaging.
torontorealtyblog.com is right for so many reasons. I started reading his around the same time as Andrews. David holds nothing back when he writes, (something I'd like to do more of on my blog though maybe no as much lol). His videos are always insightful and a blast to watch. I have no idea how he does deals...I don't mean that because he's often calling out the crappy work of developers/Realtors, I say this because he's sooooo consistent with his posts. Each one is given so much thought and written in great detail. I give it 2 big real estate thumbs up. (sidenote - I spoke to him a few times in the past, and he's as genuine on the phone as he is on his posts)
toreal.blogs.com/ - I haven't the slightest clue who writes this one OR their affiliation to Real Estate! They rank #1 for several key search terms and have been dominating google for the longest time...Although there is'nt much character on this one, the comments section are often a blast to read! (if anyone know who owns it, please have them get in touch with me!)
http://www.plintztv.com/ - Dennis is a Calagary Realtor with a tooon of passion. He video blogs for the most part and does it with so much energy and charisma.
Here's a post from a year ago that has a few others I read: http://savelblogs.com/who-do-i-read
and for those wondering... yes I read the entire internet daily! Can't wait to revisit this post a year from now to see who else has entered the blogesphere!

Brian, you're missing the point. It's an aggressive, over-the-top counter-view to the run of the mill Realtor site praising
every single project, developer, neighborhood. The majority of his rants are well-directed, well written and well argued.
He's been wrong on a couple of points, QR codes being one of them but I haven't found these to be deliberately
misleading, just misinformed. Upon being made aware of any errors, he's acknowledged them.
I read his blog regularly. It's bloody entertaining simply because it's so uninhibited and the bitter/brutal tirades
are aimed at deserving targets.
