DOORS AND HARDWARE
Heavy, black-stained oak doors provide dignified and elegant entrances to the penthouses. Two and a quarter inches thick and eight feet tall, each of these five-panel doors was built to order by the exclusive Quebecois furniture manufacturer Saint-Damase. The same oak doors are found throughout the interiors, bringing the luxurious stability of that oak inside the home.
Exquisite modern nickel and glass doors lend a special elegance to key doorways in the residences. Custom designed by architect Jose Ramirez specifically for the penthouse spaces, these finely detailed doors were custom-made by Saint-Damase with Starfire glass cased in nickel-plated solid steel.
The hardware throughout the Puck residences was sourced from H. Theophile and is produced in solid brass with either a polished nickel or a dark pewter finish. This highly engineered, custom hardware exemplifies the attention to detail applied throughout the residences.
Specializing in bespoke design projects, H. Theophile’s reputation was built on a centuryold family hardware business. Founded by Hugo Theophile in 1882, the company was brought to New York City by Erich Theophile, whose background in architecture and restoration established a focus on historic hardware production. H. Theophile’s design studio consists of industrial designers, engineers and architects dedicated to providing design-driven creative solutions that suit modern functional requirements. The team both designs custom contemporary pieces and adapts antique door patterns, fitting historical reproductions with modern mechanisms.
STOVES
These rare pieces are handmade to order in the spirit of Albert Dupuy, who founded La Cornue in Paris in 1908. The family-run business, now in its third generation, was launched with the concept of a vaulted oven, which created a natural convection air movement to retain humidity. Albert Dupuy’s Rotisseuse-Patissiere oven was an innovation in culinary technology: taking advantage of the new gas lines in Paris, he constructed the first commercial alternative to wood and coal-fueled ranges. Each Dupuy successor has capitalized on the technological advances of his day and continued to innovate, while maintaining a small company with a highly skilled and specialized staff.
The jewel in La Cornue’s crown is Le Château, the top-of-the-line range that is the centerpiece of each Puck Kitchen. La Cornue produces only a few hundred ranges each year, a testament to their commitment to quality over quantity: 65,000 ranges are sold each year in the United States alone. Unparalleled in the culinary world, the Château is an individually-designed, hand- engineered work of art.
One person assembles each Château completely by hand; this craftsman will follow production through to the end and finalize every detail. Each range is monitored, controlled and tested at all the stages of its three-month production. The Château is prized for form and function: high-intensity heat on the range-top, two ovens (gas and electric) with heavy doors that allow for even and efficient cooking, and dozens of features and finishes from which to choose. La Cornue uses only noble materials, selected and chosen for their quality and their longevity: cast iron, steel, solid brass, nickel and enamel. Dubbed the “Rolls Royce” of kitchen ranges, Château remains the undisputed choice of chefs and culinary aficionados worldwide.
LAVA STONE
This New York-based company brings 800-year-old Italian craftsmanship to everyday living. Applying decorative ceramic glazing methods from Deruta, Italy to a base of lava stone, Ceramica Design Italia merges traditional artisanship with innovative working methods and a modern design flare. Prized for both their beauty and durability, these uncommonly strong surfaces lend the kitchens of the Puck Penthouses a vibrant sophistication.
The production of each countertop starts in Sicily, where the lava stone is extracted from Mt Etna. Pieces are carefully selected, then cut to shape, examined for impurities, smoothed and sealed. The material undergoes two firings in a traditional kiln at over 1,000 degrees Celsius, during which the layers of glaze fuse with the stone. Stronger than granite, these counters are built for generations of use.
MARBLE
Family-owned and operated, Artisan Stoneworks specializes in high-end stone manufacturing. Working in a wide array of materials, including granite, marble, quartz, limestone, travertine, soapstone and onyx, the U.S.-based company fulfills custom orders to meet unique design specifications.
The stone and marble that distinguish the Baths and Powder Rooms of the Puck Penthouses are sourced from Italy. The Arabescatto Oro marble from the first Master Bath was sourced from a quarry just north of Rome; the Stormy Gray Travertine used in the second Master Bathrooms has its origins in the same region. The slabs are custom-cut to size and veins are custom-matched, resulting in truly singular stonework in each residence.
BATH TUBS
Gil Shapiro founded Urban Archaeology with the mission of salvaging historic architectural fixtures from destruction and extinction. Shapiro opened his first store in Soho in 1978, restoring and re-imagining these pieces for a modern home environment. When demand overwhelmed supply of these restored originals, the company began reproducing individual pieces and creating new and original lines of lighting, bath accessories, bath tubs, washstands and cabinetry, bringing a fresh perspective to pieces of historical and architectural importance. Their ever-growing line of products originated in such places as the Plaza Hotel, New York’s Yale Club and the St. Regis.
Now based in Tribeca, Urban Archaeology is one of the few surviving manufacturing companies in downtown Manhattan. The six- story headquarters houses a team of skilled craftsmen with expertise in ironwork, patterning and mold-making, all of whom collaborate with customers to design and build pieces made to measure.
Combining original details and luxurious materials, Urban Archaeology’s Mercer Tub graces Master Bath Suites in each Puck Penthouse. The durable porcelain-enameled cast-iron interior of the Mercer Tub draws inspiration from the freestanding tubs of the last century. The modern execution of the nostalgic piece is a perfect example of the company’s interpretation of American design of the 19th and 20th centuries.
FIXTURES
Committed to craftsmanship on every level, Waterworks is a full-service industry leader offering a wide selection of fixtures and fittings. Founded in Connecticut in 1925, the renowned company works with in-house designers and prestigious collaborators, creating pieces across a range of inspirations. From Edwardian elegance to organic beauty, Waterworks attends to each facet of the bath experience, seeking a perfect harmony of form and function. Waterworks selects the highest quality traditional and contemporary materials and prides itself on utilizing artisanal factories and workshops in Normandy, France. These workshops boast multi-generational expertise in the manufacturing of faucetry and decorative hardware, ensuring an elevated, hand-hewn level of detail and precision. For Puck, Waterworks was tapped to supply the fixtures, including all faucets, handles and knobs, for both the Master Bathrooms and Powder Rooms.
Lefroy Brooks’ fixtures are based on a rigorous documentation of design history. Studying the design vocabulary of different periods, Lefroy Brooks created a collection of plumbing fixtures representative of each decade, from the domestic origins of the late Victorian era through the mechanical angularity of the Edwardians, the curvaceous turn-of-the-century French, the colonial 1920s, the Deco-inspired 1930s and onward.
For the Puck Penthouses, the 1930s Art Decoinspired Mackintosh collection was chosen for the secondary Bathrooms. These fixtures are crafted in brass with superior chrome plating; the formulations used are a closely guarded secret. With special aerators that allow crystal-clear water flow, these fixtures are both beautifully made and beautifully practical.

Based in Wausau, Wisconsin, Kolbe’s primary manufacturing facility provides jobs for half the town. Relatively speaking, they use little machinery: to this day, Kolbe handcrafts nearly 75 percent of its products.
Recognized and accepted by landmarks in the greater New York area, Kolbe was chosen to restore the Puck Penthouses’ historic windows. Framed in mahogany wood with UV resistant glass, these detailed replicas of the original fenestration offer the ease of operation and optimal energy efficiency of modern window furnishings.

CASEMENT WINDOWS
The windows installed inthe newly constructed areas in the Puck Penthouses are supplied by Optimum Windows, the most diversified manufacturer of fire-rated windows in the United States. Puck’s windows are custom-painted steel with UV resistant glass, uniting structural excellence and style.
Established in 1986, founder Candido Perez collaborated with Italian window-makers to devise a top-notch window line particularly suited to New York City and other urban environments. Today, the entire Optimum product line is manufactured at the Optimum headquarters in the famous Schrade knife factory in Ellenville, New York; its focus remains the production of high-performance fenestration.
MILLWORK
Saint-Damase excels in custom-designed furniture and millwork. Based in Quebec, Saint-Damase combines the high-tech facilities of a large manufacturer with the careful handiwork of an artisan. Each step in production is monitored closely to ensure impeccable results: custom drawings and designs are finessed, the highest quality materials are selected and shaped, each piece is sanded individually, proprietary shades, colors and finishes are applied, and finally, the hardware for each piece is installed by hand.
Founded in 1983, Saint-Damase gained a reputation as an international leader in luxury hotel furniture fabrication, working with a vast range of materials, including natural and exotic woods, acrylic, glass and metal. Saint-Damase’s custom furnishings grace some of the world’s finest luxury hotels, such as the Chatwal Hotel in New York and The Waikiki Edition in Hawaii.
Saint-Damase realized designs for the millwork throughout the penthouses. The kitchen cabinets were custom-designed and rendered in rift-cut European white oak in a mink finish. Each piece—from door frames to vanities — is made to measure and utterly unique to the Puck homes.
FLOORS
Each Puck residence features a beautiful selection of fine flooring. While the majority of each penthouse is finished in a wide plank white oak, the entrance, Kitchen and Baths are specially appointed.
The Entry Foyer to each Puck Penthouse features an oversized hexagonal pattern of Venetino and Bardiglio marbles edged with a Quebec Noir marble border that extends vertically to become the base molding and door casing.
Kitchen floors are hand-poured Terrazzo, imported from Italy, but mixed and poured on site and embellished with stainless steel spacers.
In the Master Suite, the first Master Bath is finished in Arabescatto Oro slab marble and the second Master Bath in a Stormy Gray Travertine. Travertine slab also provides the floor and sink for the Powder Room, while the floors in the secondary Bathrooms are finished in a white Venetino marble in a herringbone pattern.
HOME TECHNOLOGY
ÉURA TELEVISION MIRRORS
Puck’s Master Bathrooms are outfitted with the latest in technology: Séura’s exclusive enhanced TV mirrors. Custom-made mirrors reveal an inset television screen at the touch of a button. When off, the screen vanishes, leaving no indication of its technical applications. Séura’s specially formulated glass coatings deliver a flawless, entirely color-accurate reflection. With elegant beveled edges and artisan-crafted moldings, these mirrors grant direct access to news and information without compromising the integrity of the Bathroom’s design and are fully integrated with the Apple Savant system.
SONANCE: HOME THEATER SPEAKERS, INDOOR SURROUNDSOUND, OUTDOOR SPEAKERS
Sonance is credited for inventing the in-wall speaker and has been praised by architects ever since. “Micro-trim” home theater speakers have 0.20" of exposed trim, so they can be seamlessly integrated into any space/design.
VELODYNE: SUB-WOOFER
Velodyne Acoustics, Inc. was founded in 1983 when David Hall discovered a revolutionary new design that optimized the reproduction of low frequency sound. Velodyne sub-woofers and audio products represent the fusion of technical innovation with the art of beautiful industrial design. Located in Silicon Valley, California, Velodyne “has been the industry leader in sub-woofer performance for almost three decades” and has been rated the number one sub-woofer for 20 years.
