Cooking Condo buildings

I have a question for all those downtown condo realtor pros.

What are the best condo buildings for cooking kitchens? (Ie gas stove, large counter space)
Are there rules against having gas in large condo developers?

@Symmetry Developments Love the multi-functional islands.

Below is my old condo, that had a moveable island, as well the under section could unfold and turn into a dining room table for up to 8 people.

I believe we have excellent cooking kitchens in both our projects - @The Hive Lofts and @Origami Lofts. Gas cooktops, integrated appliances, tons of counter space, utterly custom, one-of-a-kind islands with storage, corian/quartz counter-tops, large pantry spaces, deeper than standard cabinet depths, soft-close drawers. In addition to these features, we have gas hook-ups on all our balconies/terraces.
Origami's kitchen pics up on www.origamilofts.com, Hive's can be seen on www.thehivelofts.com and on BuzzBuzzHome's Hive Lofts page.

Most condo developments do not have gas connections in the kitchen or the balconies/terraces (additional cost to the developer) - the condo rules of these developments would prohibit propane bbqs.

It seems that kitchen space is typically reduced in smaller units to make for more "living space".

As such, I am seeing more linear kitchens, which are not conducive to cooking, or small l-shaped kitchens, which do not leave much room to cook.

I have seen plenty of condos with gas cooktops, but typically in the higher end suites.

Most luxury condos have great kitchens, even though they are barely used, and affordable suites have terrible kitchens making people eat out and order in more. Shame.

Not a big believer in U-shaped kitchens in condos - eat up too much valuable real estate.
Which is why we have large movable islands that double as furniture (seat as many as a standard dining table), with the surface permitting a variety of cooking uses, and storage space within.  Luxury condos have more spacious kitchens owing to a generally larger unit footprint.

Great replies Matt and Sayf. I actually wish the Hive was in the right location for me. I love that development. As for origami the build time is just too far out but what a great boutique development.

So far I've seen M5v has some gas stove tops but no units available. Other boutique buds and random buildings have gas top, just have to search and dig to find correct spots.

Thanks for the kind words, Jeremiah. We're very proud of both developments.

I've seen gas available in a few developments but certain developers almost always go electric owing to the additional costs involved.  There was a period - about 5-6 years ago - when soft lofts were really coming into vogue and gas in the kitchen was fairly ubiquitous.  Not the case currently.

According to @Tridel Condos, via Twitter: "There are rules on ventilation and co detectors are required for a certain perimeter of floors."

@Symmetry Developments would love to know more about those moveable kitchen islands. Which project? Any more pictures? Are they included or extra?
Thanks
