For the past year, EYA has had the pleasure of working with the residents of Michigan Park and North Michigan Park to design a neighborhood-sensitive project that brings high-quality homes and numerous benefits to this beautiful community. As a result of this collaborative effort, including more than 20 community meetings, we’ve made significant changes and improvements to the plan.
Planning & Design:
The new homes will be built behind the St. Joseph Seminary, preserving the important views of the front and sides of the building. The homes have been designed to fit seamlessly into this historic neighborhood, including red brick, front porches, and white trim.
Open Space:
Over 2.5 acres of open space including new park areas will be preserved around the Seminary and a new public access easement will make the areas legally undevelopable and open to the public from dawn until dusk in perpetuity.
Transportation Improvements:
EYA will fund a new Capital Bikeshare station, improve nearby sidewalks and crosswalks, explore a new carshare option, and is proposing traffic calming measures surrounding the site.
