Located two blocks from the future Judkins Park station of the EastLink Light Rail expansion in Seattle's Rainier Valley, Grand Street Commons is a remediated brownfield, 3.2 acre site that LUP is developing in partnership with HAL Real Estate and Mt. Baker Housing.
By providing a substantial public benefit which includes close proximity to transit, quality retail shops, and 50% of the residential units are affordable housing, LUP is able to work directly with the Department of Ecology and Mt. Baker Housing on contamination mitigation strategies. This innovative approach to managing a complex environmental remediation effort allows LUP to develop a substantial project, both in residential unit count and retail square footage, on a previously undevelopable site. Currently in design and permitting, LUP plans to break ground in Summer 2021.
