I love this discussion! I'd say it really depends on your age. I have friends in Cityplace, but it's mostly people in their '20s and there is an influx of Jersey Shore wannabes. Same goes for a couple other buildings downtown, like, unfortunately, mine. How do they choose where to migrate? I don't know, but I wish there was a warning.
My rooftop lounge is OVER-ACTIVE. You can barely find a place to sit amongst these scantily clad JS'ers. Seriously, I spotted a thong the other day. But, hey, maybe that's an attraction for some! Plus, I think only a tenth of the people on my rooftop at one time actually live in my building. Too much mingling for my liking!
Ideally, you want to live in a building with not a lot of activity so you can access the amenities whenever you want, and have a friend in a 'mingler' building. Then, you can go visit the friend, but not commit to the lifestyle.
Another point on Cityplace: if you date within the community, chances are, you will run in to your leftovers on a regular basis. This is a common problem amongst said CityPlace friends.
I think I may wait to see the make-up of my next condo community before I commit. Lessons learned!
