Zoocasa: Thoughts on their new website?

I just found out that Zoocasa (www.zoocasa.com) has a new website.

Have you had a chance to play around with it? Any thoughts?
Will it change the Canadian real-estate game??

Any thoughts from @Roy Bhandari, @Mark Savel or @Josie Stern?

Yes I've played around with the new site. It is a nice updated design BUT they've killed some of the supporting data that they were providing before.

Will it change the Canadian real-estate game?

At a 35% referral fee! NO WAY! That's a massive chunk of the commission to toss to a lead generator.

They also aren't matching people up with the best agents either. Like I mentioned in my blog post. My neighbourhood returned 5 agents. I haven't heard of four of them AND all 5 of them I'm almost positive haven't had a single listing in my neighbourhood in the last year.

the reality is that the great/best agents in the city of Toronto (and beyond) don't want to OR don't have to A) be paying a 35% referral for leads B)...... how can anyone afford to provide top notch service when they are taking a literal assault on the bottom-line!

The home search is way off too.....since when is Chatham, ON near Yonge and Bayview!

Nice design however I have one problem with it. I searched a specific location yet results were coming up over 120km away. Rogers have all the money in the world you figure they would be able to make locations/search results a bit more accurate

I like the design as well... not very clear on how the brokerage works. The way I understand it is leads get generated from MLS listings populated on the site, then sent to sales reps at other brokerages for a referral fee?

So long as each referred agent spends the same amount of time, effort and energy as they're clients that they're not paying a referral fee for, the system may work.  It's just kinda hard to maintain a set level of service with this model.  Gonna be interesting none the less!

Just checked out their Zoopraisal ... Way off in terms of appraising values compared fo actual assessments and selling prices on the single family home side of things - missed by millions of dollars in many cases in Vancouver ...

I agree with @Mark Savel and @Jimmy Paige: the overall design is nice. While the design at first appears to look nice there are some terrible attributes such as the ads and their map system is awful.

Personally, I wish Zillow would come to Canada.

Much better design than the old site. I tried the zoopraisal system just now though and it is way off. About 150k!

I'm curious to see if their new business model works though. Great idea but getting quality agents will be difficult in my opinion but we shall see.

Awesome design. They made it more user friendly but less functional. Probably our startup http://www.estateblock.com is vice versa. Check it out. It is for Lower Mainland, BC and we have all listings on the market ( MLS + Future Developments)

Colorful design. It looks better than the old one. If you are looking for a new platform, check out http://www.movety.com/. It has all MLS listings in Metro Vancouver.
