SO excited! I need something like this to stay committed to reading the best business books. And to get input from the best business minds in the industry, of course!
What are we going to choose for the first book? Should we do new books or go through the best business books of all time? Or both?
Here are some I haven't got around to reading, but would like to:
- Gladwell's Outliers or Tipping Point (embarrassed I haven't read these yet!)
- The 4-hr Workweek
- Steve Jobs
- the Seth Godin sundae one
- The Creative Workshop
- 7 Habits of Highly Successful People
- How to Win Friends and Influence People
- Made to Stick
Others I wouldn't mind re-reading since it's been so long:
- Cialdini's Influence
- Blue Ocean Strategy
This might also give us some ideas:

Hey @RateHub,
Looking forward to discussing some biz-books!
What an awesome read!!
I would like to read Blue Ocean Strategy, but I hear it is awful to get through! Maybe we should start off with something a little more fun?
I have not read Outliers or Tipping Point, and really want to. I also really to read the Seth Godin sundae one.
I suggest:
February: Tipping Point
April: Seth Godin's Meatball Sundae: Is Your Marketing out of Sync?
May: The 4-hr Workweek
Thoughts?

I've read most of those, but would love to re-read and talk about any of them. I'd add:
E-myth
The War of Art (or the shorter Doing the Work)
Buyology
Art of the Start
Anything by Godin is Gold- Meatball Sundae, Purple Cow, The Dip, ...
Tipping Point was fantastic. Made to Stick is a must read for you two. Must. Read.

anybody read Jeffrey Gitomer's Sales books? The Sales Bible, Little Gold book of Yes, Little Green book of Getting your way, Little Black book of Connections etc.. I find them well written and not so dry like some Sales and Marketing books.

I've already got that book! Maybe I'll have to pull it off the shelf for a quick re-read, and I'm in for the meetup.

I just ordered "The Power Broker" by Robert Caro, which is a biography of Robert Moses, "the man who made New York". He was responsible for the bulk of freeways, bridges and major roads built in New York City and beyond during the post war infrastructure boom (a lot of which made him a much maligned figure as he virtually wiped our neighbourhoods and communities in the process, and had a tendency to be discriminatory towards areas dense with minorities)
Don't know if this would qualify as a "business" book, but more or less a cautionary tale for anybody responsible for decision making, long term vision and planning. And having to deal with consequences of their decisions.
But at over 1300 pages, I don't know if I'll be done in time!

Bookclubbers! I'm going on a last minute vacation at the end of the month and, therefore, am going to miss the first meeting. Since I'm supposed to host with Matt, I was hoping we could move the date to the next week?
I propose March 7th or 8th. Any big objections?!
Let us know so we can send out a reminder closer to the date!
I promise to prep the book club questions while I'm soaking up the sun :)

The only book you will ever need in your entire life, whether it is for business or personal, it covers everything, Napolean Hills "Think and Grow Rich" If you believe that your actions dictate your results, which they do, this book shows you how to change your actions so that your results change. Ever wonder why Realtors make the same money year after year, and they think changing their website or their business cards will make more sales, fat chance. Sales are a result of how well they grasp the concept of changing their thinking. The only company changing Realtors from the inside out is Young Realty Inc. Come and join us at our monthly education seminar this Thursday, all are welcome.
