Most Reputable Developer?

Stumbled upon this blog that suggested @BosaProperties is the most reputable developer in Vancouver:
http://www.jaymcinnes.com/Blog.php/bosa-properties-the-most-reputable-developer-in-vancouver

Inspired by the Best Condo Projects 2011 thread (http://www.buzzbuzzhome.com/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=854), who would you nominate in your city and why?

If you've purchased new construction before, please share your experiences with your builder by writing a review.  New home shoppers everywhere will thank you!

Bosa Properties is a very good developer for sure! Lots of history and they will stand behind what they do. There are a few other development companies run by family members sometimes confused with Bosa Properties such as Bosa Development. Even Appia and Embassy development are all from the Bosa family.
A few other developers I like include:
The Wall Group (Wall Center, Yaletown Park, Wall Center False Creek, 2300 Kingsway, etc)
Aspac (One/Two/Three Harbour Green, Wesbrook at UBC, etc)
Westbank (Shangri-La, Shaw Tower, Fairmont Pacific Rim, now 6/Fir, etc)
Onni, Cressey, Concert, Salient, Intracorp, Aquilini, are all good too in my opinion. Quite a few good ones but Bosa Properties certainly would be high on the list!

Would you say the the family member off shoots like Blue Sky, or Bosa Developement are any better or worse than the original Bosa?

Personally I think both Bosa Properties and Bosa Development are very solid. In the case of Blue Sky, I haven't seen that much of them but if Robert Bosa puts his name behind it - then that would be enough for me.

Sounds good to me
Have you ever heard of Tridecca that is building the 258 in New West? I can find very little about them

Keep in mind that Bosa Properties (Blue Sky) is completely separate from Bosa Developments (Appia, Embassy). That being said, all of those companies have great reputations in the Vancouver market, I don't think you could go wrong with any of them.
Haven't heard much of anything on Tridecca other than the launch of 258 was wildly successful.

Congratulations, Michael. I recently just took possession of my first pre-sale condo purchase; it's an incredible feeling. I don't think you could have picked a better developer.

I'm biased, but I would think that having sold more than 20,000 homes in the lower mainland in the last 30 years, now consistently building 1,000+ homes a year in just about every municipality in Metro Vancouver, would be enough to include Polygon as a candidate. I can think of few other local developers with this track record. www.polyhomes.com

I was speaking from personal experience having worked with the builder and learning their processes/standards; I haven't had that luxury with Polygon so I can't make the same recommendation.
Certainly it is impossible to dispute those numbers though.

Couldn't agree more with @Ben.
Furthermore, I have been blown away by some of the unique aspects of the Polygon campaigns, most notably, I love their special "fun corner" for children in their sales office(s). This is really awesome, and provides for a more welcoming experience for their customers.

I can't say enough good things about the builder, has gone above and beyond at every step of the way.

Well congrats to you - looks like they are 80% sold according to their website. One bed or two? I would be curious to know how the noise level from other apartments is in a new construction building.
How about going the opposite - which is the worst developer you have heard/come across?

The building is still coordinating move-ins so I don't have any neighbours yet, can't answer that question but I'll get back to you in a couple of weeks. Two bedrooms; a good starter home.
In regards to worst developer, I don't have any experience with "bad developers." I've heard horror stories; if you look there are plenty of user review websites (take those with a grain of salt, much like travel or food review). Because I work in the industry I can tell you there are developers that focus on homeowner experience and make it a core competency, and others that consider it an afterthought. My recommendation to any new home buyer is doing your diligence, speak with homeowners from past projects, ask lots of questions. To @ben's point, with that many completed projects Polygon is obviously doing something very right. Completed work stands as a testimony.
In my case, Quantum Properties is a smaller, local developer. The project isn't high profile; it is a fairly typical 4 storey stick frame building that is common in the Lower Mainland. I chose them based on price, location, standard finishes and their reputation was fantastic. I spoke with a few homeowners from their most recent project and all of them were satisfied with their experience. They were honest, upfront and communicated throughout the entire building process. When I did my PDI the service staff had already gone through and marked any deficiencies they could find. Any issue I've noticed since moving in has been taken care of with amazing efficiency, most of the time the same day. Like I said, can't say enough good things.
