Best SUBWAY SUBWAY SUBWAY stop in Toronto to live next to?

It's obviously contentious and impossible to say for sure, but for me I think if you work at Yonge and Bloor or downtown, Museum is an awesome station in a great area that's rarely busy. Then again, if you get on at St. George or Bloor or Union, you have a much better chance of getting a seat as everyone offloads.

I guess the question is also, more importantly, the worst subway stop. @The Massey Tower, @Yonge + Rich and if they go through with that huge rental on that corner will make the Queen stop ridiculous (you already have to deal with the Eaton Centre traffic)

Worst Subway Stop: Bessarion station and the Ellesmere RT. Both in the middle of no where, both used by no one!

So true. It also doesn't help all the stops in Scarborough that the RT is the worst public transit ever. I rode it for the first time a few weeks ago and felt like I was in a wooden rollercoaster - so loud rickety and small

I do love this thread's title.

Best Subway Stop: St George, I would say. It's always rammed, but there are connections to the Bloor/Danforth and YUS lines (unlike Spadina station, where you have to walk 3 minutes down a tunnel to connect). And it's not nearly as hectic as Yonge/Bloor.

Worst Subway Stop: Unlike @Aaron Mohammed, I can't comment on Bessarion or Ellesmere as I have never used them, but Glencairn on the Spadina line is almost always empty and pretty useless considering everybody just uses Eglinton West or Lawrence.

Agreed re: Spadina station. I've seen more people run to connect in that station than anywhere else. St.George for me is way better than Yonge/Bloor or Dundas or Union

A bit off topic but street cars need to die. Buses please.

@Ryan McGovern A little tunnel traversing never hurt anyone. My vote is for Spadina because of connectivity to YUS and Bloor as well as the Spadina streetcar. It's not crazy like Bloor/Yonge and neighbourhood is better (IMO) than St. George.

I'm an annex lover through and through, my votes for Bathurst - on the Bloor line, quick access (one stop) to YUS and way way less congestion than Spadina/St.George/Yonge. And worst case, Bathurst street car is just as easy to move north/south, sorry @Aaron Mohammed. Plus you can't beat this midtown neighborhood.

@Anish Khithani Bathurst is a solid choice too. Great beef patties available at this stop.

@Anish Khithani @Sean MacKay, plus if you exit the station, you have Guu and Caribbean Roti Palace within arms reach.

Gotta revive this conversation. What does everyone think of Dundas Station?

I hate all things pertaining to the TTC (particularly streetcars) therefore I hate Dundas Station @Sean MacKay.

To be honest, all the stations on the "Yellow" and "Green" line are fine with the exception of Glencairn, I just wish there was a feasible option to deal with the crowds.

Ok, new twist: subway station with best dining/drinking options.

I think there's a strong case for Bathurst, with the Victory, endless sushi joints and great Korean food only moments away.

@Sean MacKay - Dundas is insanely busy. Dundas West, however, is awesome for the transit connections and proximity to Roncesvalles Village/High Park/Junction.

@Ryan McGovern @Sean MacKay, Bathurst west exit used to have Panzerotti, greatest old Italian guy cooking out of a small kitchen made the greatest veal sandwich and panzerotti. Shut down in place of a Pizzaville..

Surprisingly I had such a hard time finding decent food out of Museum Station

Great twist @Sean MacKay,

My vote would be for Eglinton, everything right around the corner. Also, if we're talking beef patties, Kennedy Station wins by a mile.

Beef patties are a game changer, agreed

Also Pape has Greek-town and lots of Portuguese chicken joints that make my mouth water

All this is going to make lunch very difficult today

@Anish Khithani There's not much going on around Museum, eats-wise. They knocked down the big McDonald's nearby and I think they even closed up the Subway. You're better off walking over to Yonge and Bloor.

If I'm in the CBD I aim for a Pizzaiolo (Yonge & Bloor stop or King) or Smokes/Burrito Boys (St. Andrew). @Anish Khithani gotta love any stop with Greek and Portuguese places nearby...ya lunch is going to be tough today!

@Sean I have to disagree with you. The best beef patties in that area belong to Jerk King (just east of Bathurst on Bloor). Now that's a beef patty. Don't get me wrong though, the Bathurst station patty used to be the best but over the years, it's just gone downhill. However, Bathurst station has the best eateries/bars if you're on the go that are right outside the station. Best subway station overall

I really love Bathurst for people watching and food. I'm really interested to see what develops at the Honest Eds site

(really all the stops near between Christie to Yonge have great restaurants and interesting stuff)

I've heard Yonge/Eglinton is soo rammed that people go North one stop to get on the train at Eglinton. What's going to happen when all those condos get completed?

I hope one day we add another line to relieve the YUS line (ie a Downtown Relief Line)

This why i don't agree with building more stops on existing lines or adding lines where places don't have the density (ie the Scarborough extension)

Here's a great recap of all the talk that has gone on  http://joshmatlow.ca/issues-and-policies/transit.html

A relief line would be perfect. I've been riding the TTC more frequently and there needs to be a solution to this crowded and crammed system.
