Introducing 120 Java, a one-of-a-kind boutique condominium that fuses old-world charm with contemporary city luxury. 120 Java is a converted church building offering residents stunning studio to 3-bedroom homes and thoughtful lifestyle amenities in one of Brooklyn’s premier neighborhoods.
120 Java was originally built by Thomas Fitch Rowland, owner of the Continental Iron Works, a prominent Greenpoint shipyard and local employer that built numerous ships including most notably the Monitor iron hulled battleship during the Civil War. Rowland originally built 120 Java as a community center adjacent to the Ascension Church on Kent Street as a gift to the community.
The original masonry and heavy timber structure underwent a full adaptive re-use overseen by Rawlings Architects. Tara Benet Design lead the interior design, re-imagining the building for 21st Century living.
Loft-like and bright, units at 120 Java blend restored 19th century redbrick walls with modern features like new timber ceilings and beams, oversized double-pane Low-E windows, white oak engineered plank floors, LED lighting, and energy efficient split-system heating and cooling. Most apartments come with private outdoor space, and all have washer/dryer hookups as well as stunning kitchens equipped with sleek quartz countertops, pendant lighting, custom Craftline cabinets, Grohe and Newport Brass faucets, and high-end appliances from Liebherr, Bosch, and Bertazzoni.
Residents enjoy, a fully-equipped gym, a children’s playroom, private storage lockers, a bicycle room, and a common rooftop deck with grilling stations and sublime views of the Manhattan skyline. Situated in the heart of Greenpoint, the building is surrounded by trendy restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops and is close to several parks and playgrounds. Public transportation options include the G subway line and the NYC Ferry.
