Wheelchair Accessibility

Hello, I am looking for some advice. I own a very small war-time home in Barrie that was upgraded $100,000 in 2008
The newest GO trainstop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allandale_Waterfront_GO_Station) is one kilometer away.
We renovated our home and added a new front sunroom as well to make it accessible for my terminally ill husband. He has now gone into medical care in London and I need to sell this pretty little house. At 875 square feet plus the new front room with 12 foot cathedral ceiling it is very similar to a condo - but has a basement, garage and a 45 X 120 foot lot.
Would you recommend I list it with a Toronto area Realtor who might specialize in wheelchair accessibility or stay with a local Barrie firm?

Hi Carmen,
As much as I want to say "Gimme gimme gimme!" Most Toronto Realtors don't know Barrie (I say most as there may be exceptions). It's always better to go local. I have a few contacts out there if you need a referral let me know. ara@springreatly.ca

I didn't even know that there were Realtors who specialized in wheelchair accessibility.
IMHO, a Toronto Realtor will not know the Barrie marketplace well enough to give you sound purchasing advise. That said, if there are people who specialized in this, you might want to pay them a fee to consult with you while using a Barrie specialist.
Thoughts?

I might be able to assist you. I was a quadriplegic years ago and lived in Barrie for a short period of time when I got out of hospital (10 months later). I am a partially disabled real estate broker based in Richmond Hill now. I am familiar with disabled housing and have contacts to help my marketing of these homes. See a link to a page on my web site: http://www.craigwoods.ca/index.php?p=146
Feel free to give me a call toll free at 1-888-9LE-PAGE and ask to be patched through to my cell.
