Is Vancouver getting a BIG?

The online forums are bustling with rumours that we are getting a BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group)

Skyscraper Page: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?p=5556310
VanCityBuzz: http://www.vancitybuzz.com/2012/01/big-architects-vancouver-proposal/

From the threads and images it is proposed at Howe and Beach and by developer Westbank.

If true, this would be pretty remarkable for the City.

Which of the 2 tallest building is the "BIG"...? Please excuse my Toronto-centic knowledge, I'll assume the gorgeous one on the right?

I know the site in question, but would be surprised to see something like that come up there. At least in that size and scale. The rendering is also missing Maddox, the tower to be coming up kiddy-corner to Maddox, The Rolston and other proposed towers that will come up once the bridge loops are taken out.
A cool building by BIG in that spot I can see, but don't imagine it would look anything like this rendering.

It is starting to sound like this is becoming a reality.
According to the the online chatter, this Westbank building will have 59 storeys and between 600 residential units with 180 rental units bringing the total suite-count to 780 units.
There are lots of images around the web, but I like this one:

Yeah, lots of rumblings about it now. Will be interesting to see how it changes through the application process.

Fantastic as is! I'm frightened that the awful Vancouver UDP police will ruin it.

Here is an article from The Vancouver Sun: http://www.vancouversun.com/business/Flatiron+style+building+proposed+foot+Granville+Street+Bridge/6165327/story.html
From the article:
Height: 49 storeys
Podium: 9 storeys
Units: 600 homes including 180 market rental suites
The tower has a triangle-base at the lower level and then becomes a square as it rises above the bridge.
From the article:
“In doing so, it also increases the desirable spaces for living at its top, while freeing up a new common space at its base,” the building’s architect, Bjarke Ingels, writes in the rezoning application. “The Beach and Howe tower is a contemporary descendent of the Flatiron Building in New York City, one of the city’s most important landmarks.” New York’s Flatiron Building is also triangular.
