How do I get a 416 area code number for a land line in Toronto?!

I am on the phone with Rogers, and I am only able to get a crappy 647 area code number, which sucks.

Anyone know how to get a 416 land line number these days?! Any tricks?

@Matthew Slutsky our alarm system is through a cell connection. Most security companies should offer a cell connection as it can't be "cut" and is technically more secure.

We're with Alarm Force, don't know who you're looking into.

Dont get off the phone with them. Just make them keep trying and running the numbers until a 416 comes up.

I believe all of the 416 numbers has been used up, unless for the ones that have been disconnected for service.
I know that you could not longer get a 416 cell phone number, only 905 and 647.

I don't know how long does a disconnected phone number stays dormant until it is reissued (if at all). My last cell number was reassigned to someone roughly about a year after I cancelled service.

@Marco @Allen ...okay. It is official. I am going to start following the obituaries, and see when downtowners with 416 numbers die.
ha.

Matthew, you're evil.

Then again I hear of agents in New York doing the same thing when hunting for potential properties to buy or sell.

@Andrew LaFleur ...excellent question! Here are my reasons:

1. For a central alarm system and fire monitoring
2. In case of world emergency, where all cell phones die for some reason land-lines work because no one has them anymore.
3. Easier to talk into than a cell phone

I would tried bell, and no luck, and waisted $50 One day I noticed in the U.S. on ebay one person has the inside connections to great numbers under "Vanity Numbers" and a NewYork (212) OriginalN.Y Manhatten could run in the Hundreds, depending how good it flows.
As for a 416 TORONTO AreaCode I got my number from a website called: VIP416numbers.com great service,we met, he showed me a list, and I picked the most appealing number to me. I must say I LuV my NumbeR! The way I see it, a "416" Number is something that sounds right, and since I needed it for business purposes it sounds even better! Hope this helps! ...Good LucK!!

@Jamie K., yes, that is a pretty expensive option on a monthly basis.

How do you like Alarm Force? We did not end up using them for a few reasons:
1. I did not like their control panel;
2. I find their advertising to be annoying; and,
3. The whole idea of someone talking to the burglar through my house is just weird.

@Matthew Slutsky Yes it is fairly expensive on a monthly basis (but look at what Rogers is charging!). Then again I can't remember what we're paying of the top of my head, the rates may have gone up.

1. Yes their control panel is a little "ghetto" technology wise. Though I have had few problems and those of all generations can easily understand and use it (even those unfamiliar and visting from out of town).

2. Yes the advertisements are annoying (but OH so catchy)..... but I'll say the same thing for the music developers play on project websites ;)

3. Though a little "creepy" it does establish whether they need to send police, as they can hear what is going on in the house if the alarm is tripped. Though I've never been "burglarized" I've tripped it many a times and they have always been prompt. Customer service is pretty good as well, and that definitely counts for something.

Now my female neighbour who lives on her own did have an issue. The alarm was triggered in her home, she came home from work and I eventually went inside to take a look around (I was home and she came and asked). The alarm company was notified and took over an hour to dispatch and respond...... what a joke. I don't remember the company name, though she has since switch to AlarmForce.

I have been subscribing to Alarm Force for over 4 years and they have been great for customer service. I never really activate the alarm anymore though so I may just have no alarm system - I actually think the stickers on the windows are the power of the system! Who would break in to the house with the alarm force stickers instead of the one without? So just get some stickers and save tons of money! ;) Now if everyone got alarm stickers... well I may need to start arming again ;)
