Apple iTV - will it change the way real-estate is sold?

Will the Apple TV, or iTV, revolutionize real-estate??

Think about all the condo and house sales offices that utilize touchscreens, now think about walking into an open-house or a home-showing and being able to do the same thing.

Will this change the way real-estate is sold?

It would be cool to see that in a house, but unlike a condo, a house is already built, so it does not require all the bells and whistles such as renderings and floorplans. Maybe I am not so tech savy, but I don't see what it could do or the benefit.

I would think someone at the location would be more interested in taking a look around at the place rather than studying it on a screen. That said, entertainment options at an open house are a pretty neat idea - you could bring the kids! The touch screen could still be useful for checking out different options for the home, such as elevations or finishes.

"oh that's awful."

I'm currently selling a newly built home, and one of the marketing ideas was to have a tv on During showings to show the transformation the home went through. Many who came through really liked the idea. Something like this would be a great addition for marketing, we could show area info, near by hot spots etc etc.
Something that wasn't given much spotlight was the integration of webforms with the new operating system. This should really help to make the iPad even more efficient with the resale realtors. In short, we'd be able to create offers and other documents from the iPad... Something that currently isn't supported. I'm guessing the same advantages would be seen in the precon market

I think its help on selling the property is limited. a touchscreen presentation is like a high-tech feature sheet, which is to be referenced by potential buyer AFTER they see the property personally.
so it will help, but it is not a game-changer..

@Mark: You mentioned the idea of a TV on the wall showing the transformation. Very cool! Did you end up doing this?
@Beavis: Agreed. Just a "fact sheet" would be pretty lame. But, as @Mark mentioned above, there are a tonne of other possibilities that go far beyond just a touch-screen.

I think there’re many factors that will determine success of this app:
Who are the buyers (age, occupation, background…), what kind of property (condo apartment, house…), what is the reason of purchase (principal residence, investment…)
Definitely it’s a great feature that makes agent’s job more efficient, helps them to save time and expenses on showings. It’s good for foreign investors or people that relocate. Certainly it is amazing feature for new construction of all kinds (I saw one of such apps for one of the projects in GTA – fantastic).
But I doubt it will revolutionize real estate, especially in resale segment. At least for now.
