I personally like the value, look and quality of Bosch. If money is not a factor Wolf is best.

On the high-end I really like Miele, especially their Masterchef Series line. That's what I am getting for my kitchen. It's the best appliances if you love to cook and want professional-grad appliances but don't have the space for a Wolf, Viking or Sub Zero.
Everything that Miele makes is of very high quality and well designed. I own a Miele S7 vacuum cleaner and it's the best vacuum I have ever owned, hands down much better than a Dyson.

Agreed on Miele -- I also have their vacuum and it's AWESOME. There are the other "big" brands, such as Wolf, Thermador, Sub-Zero, then there's Gaggenau which, apparently, is above all...!

I have been told that IKEA appliances are fantastic. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I can tell you what's NOT good... whirlpool! I got all my appliances there (got them from a friend, they are like 1 year old). It's complete crap.. except fot the fridge and washer (that are okay, not that good) i hate them. Don't buy this brand, it's very bad.

Interesting - I've heard otherwise! There's a bunch of forums with people complaining about them!

All brands are hit-and-miss tbh. Whirlpool also make KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, and Amana which are considered mid-high-end brands, as well as Kenmore which is meant to be one of the most reliable brands!

^^ I agree, Bosch would be right up there for the average Joe.

Haven't had the best luck with Samsung. Bought a Brand New townhome last year and our dishwasher didn't work from day 1. Something malfunctioned with the digital board. Makes you wonder what will happen 3 years from now! Also, our Washing machine, by Samsung, started leaking after 6 months causing ceiling damage below. When the mechanic came, he noted over a page of problems, starting with no cold water. Basically, 1/3 of our Samsung appliance package had major issues in the first 6 months! But hey, they look good!!! Sighs....

Bosch and Blomberg and Fisher & Paykel are great, but not so great when they breakdown. Costly and not everyone can repair them! Especially if you live in a more remote area.
