So What's ACTUALLY going to happen to Ontario Place?

So John Tory put a big red box around a "no wall of condos" recommendation in his report.

With it suggested that there'll be no government funding, what do people think is going to end up on the land?

.....and then what?

I think it may be a good thing that nothing will happen for a while. The area is woefully under served transport wise so before anything happens they'll need to figure that issue out.

I for one like the idea of having a public park space that's open year round. Whether it's going to happen or not is another question!

@Ian Byrne a large public park space would be awesome! Combined with a few other small things, whether it be condos, more concert space, etc... (to keep it alive on cold winter days) would be perfect in my opinion.

I still think a casino would have been a great idea. Also I agree that some park space and concert space would be nice as well.

I don't agree that condos should go in to that area.

I don"t understand why they have to radically change the formula for Ontario Place. The concept was great it used to be free admission  those were the days...Now it is very expensive.. Drop the price, spiff up the place, add a few modern/current activities and voila ...Back to the forum-styled for concerts great idea!! When they built that ampitheathre there now..they cut down over 400 trees ...what a way to ruin a park!!  Should be kept as a tourist attraction for 'things to do' while visiting toronto and for the residents of this great city...BACK TO BASICS???

Interesting reaction to the new plans for Ontario Place.

Can't say that I don't agree. Condos at CityPlace are a bad idea

Yup! Approved. Here is what the Toronto Star says:

http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1242345--ontario-place-liberals-endorse-proposal-to-revamp-park

From The Star:

Tourism Minister Michael Chan said Wednesday the government has endorsed the 18 recommendations in last month’s report from former Progressive Conservative leader John Tory to turn the waterfront park into an all-season destination with places to live, work, shop, eat and play.

“Today is the first step to move ahead,” said Chan, who has earmarked $5.5 million to get the site ready for developers to make proposals for condos, a hotel, stores, restaurants and offices within two or three years.

WELL what else is new: more condos...no place to play ...Ontario Place used to be a free site and the FORUM was the gravy for people in the summer...It is a wonderful location for condos BUT i think we need the green space more, sorry!
