Sky Cycle - A bike path above the city!

Can anyone see a downside to this? I think is this one of the best ideas ever. Is it time to start installing Bike stops near our new condos?

What a way to reduce street-clutter. Would the cost be too great?

I concur. Elevated structures always cost more to maintain than an at-grade roadway or bike path. However, there certainly could be a lot of other cost-saving (and tourist-attracting) components to a SkyCycle that would make it worthwhile (and totally awesome!).

Downside might be cost, and other places that the dollars could have been spent. But, looks pretty insane!

@Matthew Slutsky I think this would really incentivize people to leave their cars are home - it's more safe, it's eco-friendly, It would be faster due to no street lights or traffic, and would save money in terms of time for drivers and bikers alike! Not to mention that the first city to do this would have a MAJOR tourist attraction  --- And it's cheaper than subways ---- ANNNND would probably stimulate bike sales.

@Maxwell Schwartz I agree, it would be great, but I have to think that building and maintaining this "in the sky" idea would cost a fortune!

Although there would likely be immense costs associated with this, the green foot print this would bring about would be priceless.

I would love to ride my bike to work, however with the numerous amounts of drivers who like to open their car doors without looking and the aggressive driving I see everywhere, frankly, i'm too scared. Yes, I've been skydiving, I snowboard as much as possible, and can't wait to try the skywalk at the CN tower. Toronto traffic while on a bike? No thanks.

Biking in the sky would be a dream!

London, England uses sky high bike trails but charges for use.....Calgary has tons of sky walkways ..great when cold winds blow and no traffic to content with for walkers.. I have great photos of Calgary sky walkways. I loved them when I was there.
