Why are sales offices closed on Fridays??

Why do condo sales offices close on Fridays?? These sales office staff must have the most plush job around.

Further, they typically open at noon.

Most stores are able to stay open 7 days per week, why cant these guys do it? If I am spending that amount of money, I want to be able to be able to check out the project at my convenience.

I work with Monarch Group and we too are open 7 days a week.  I just am torn whether this should be an expectation or should be based on the individual community.  I think it is something that each builder and each community decides for themselves.  If people don't like you not being accessible then they won't buy from you.

Playing devils advocate.  Is 6 days a week not convenient enough?  Most businesses outside of the retail sector are open 5 days a week.

I agree, but selling a new-home from a sales-centre is retail!

i would tend to agree at certain centres where there are 3 or 4 agents and they are selling 250-400 units per year.  On a site that does 50-75 its tough to ask 1 agent to be there 7 days per week.  And to get a 2nd agent and split the $$$ doesn't work with little sales.

I see Friday being a slow day for sales, as people are working or getting ready (or started) for the weekend.
Agents need their day off too!

It must be a slow day for sales. If it was a busy day, I am certain that developers would stay open. They dont want to walk away from a buck!

Hey guys, I work for Empire Communities and our sales offices are open 7 days a week. I can't speak for other developers, but we try to be accessible for all our potential buyers. All our sales offices are also open this Monday, August 6th on the civic holiday.

FYI, via Twitter, Tridel said: "The @101erskine presentation centre is open Fridays for the next couple months!"

When I sold new developments Friday off made sense. Weekends are the busiest days, and the days after would be needed to follow up, dealing with contracts written on the weekend etc.
Things would tale off towards the end of the week, so Friday made the most sense to close if a day is needed for closing.
Lots of developments have 1-2 sales people only, so having 1 day off seems reasonable to me, and they've picked the most logical day.

Woohoo! Via Twitter, we have an other builder open 7 days a week!

Pinnacle International says: "Definitely to each its own, though all of our sales centres in the GTA are open 7 days a week, happy Friday!"

Without trying to derail the subject.  It drives me nuts that most car dealerships are closed Sundays.  At least Fridays make sense.

Great point @Jordan Kideckel! My dry cleaner is closed on Sundays but I seem to manage just fine LOL! Are we not getting a little to zealous with this idea that everything needs to be open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day? All it does it drive up the cost of production....banks have to pay the tellers that work on Sunday, grocery stores for the guy working at 2am for the 24/7 Metro.

With regards to sales office's hours it makes sense that they open late and close late. I think the majority of people still work roughly 9-5ish so they probably aren't out buying a house or condo at 10am. Also something that I don't think people realize is that very often even though the doors aren't open the staff are still working. On my sites I'm almost always early doing paperwork, etc in the back office. Also on the smaller sites when you are closed on Fridays the agent is still checking messages/emails and is available by appts.

Hair salons and some restaurants are closed on Mondays.

Some sales centres would open on Fridays (or any days that they are closed) if you scheduled an appointment. I don't think they will risk a potential sale if it means having someone there just for half an hour, and they must cater to out of town buyers who may be only in town for a short period of time.
