Do you support Kony2012 by Invisible Children?

Driving home last night I heard about a Ugandan warlord going viral on Twitter. So, when I got home I watched the video Kony2012 by Invisible children and then immediately spent $50 on a get Kony kit.

I'm not totally convinced of the moral righteousness surrounding the campaign but I think its a fascinating social/internet experiment and therefore I'd like to support it.

Interested in what others think of Kony2012 and if they support the campaign?

While I have no idea about the company behind the campaign, I think that the campaign has brought more light to this issue in the past 24 hours than any of the news makers over the past years.
The big question is, will it make policy makers move on something that should not be a top priority.

I compare this very heavily to the SOPA movement.. both viral, both being brought to peoples attention by the 'common people' and both claiming the power of the masses.
I don't think this is really a question of whether or no you support the KONY2012. Nobody would say no to helping children that are being murdered. It is more of a question of whether or not your support can help the cause.

It's a very disturbing video and situation, obviously. I just wonder how they are going to get to a man who is being protected by children. Children who were forced into his army, nonetheless.
I do hope they manage to get him somehow and this video is a step in the right direction. It's true that politicians don't care unless it's on the agenda of voters and the masses.

^^but, what if there are much bigger world issues than this? Is it right that foreign policy be altered because of an emotional video?

I'm not sure how to comment on what should take priority in political agenda as so many issues are very important. How do we compare thousands of people being killed internationally to a domestic financial crisis which drives hundreds of thousands into poverty, for instance? This is always the case with politics.
All causes should be so lucky to have such a word-of-mouth epidemic as this video has created. I mean, I care now compared to yesterday when I did not simply because I was ignorant to the problem.
I do know, however, that if we turn a blind eye to international crimes that do "not concern us" entire populations can be wiped out like with the Rwandan genocide or even the beginning of WWII which was ignored by the US.
This is why most of us are not politicians - it's too difficult prioritising between causes, lobbyists, etc.
I am not sure what the resolution is to prioritising but I definitely feel this should be on the "to-do" list.

I too bought a get Kony kit. Broke my heart to watch it. Imagine if that was our children? I have doubts as to what will be done with the money but at least Invisible Chil dren charity is for real and some good will come out of it.

@Josie totally agree. I also agree with @Simeon that there are definite parallels between Kony2012 and the anti SOPA campaign.
Even though there are some legitimate critiques of Kony2012 eg. Ugandan military + US were closing in on Kony prior to social media campaign, Invisible Children is over spending on video production, video is dumbing down a complex issue, America has more important priorities right now, etc. ultimately, the campaign has shone a spotlight on an issue that should not be tolerated. Furthermore, Kony2012 has engaged a a segment of main stream America that is generally only concerned with the television program Jersey Shore.

This video is currently going viral -----> http://youtu.be/7DO73Ese25Y
One of the interesting things the lady says is that Kony died 5 years ago.
