What is the purpose of "following" people?

I noticed that there has been a change on the Buzz to my profile page. It also seems that you can now "follow" people, rather than "connect" with them.

What's up with this? Is there any benefit to me to "follow" people?

Hi Marco,
Excellent question, and we hate to sound a bit "mysterious", however.....
The update to your profile page and the new "follow" function is part of a large update to BuzzBuzzHome entitled "Project 9".
The second part of "Project 9" (really called "Project 11"), will make "following" make sense, and it will be released in early fall.
Lets just say, "Twitbook".
