BuzzBuzzHome tracks new construction
homes only. We define new construction
homes as newly built homes that have never
previously sold or rented. Therefore, once
such a home is sold or rented we consider it
to have passed into the realm of resale
at which time we stop tracking it.
The Manhattan tower and landmark, reinvented. 111 West 57th Street represents commitment to the quality of craft, history, and thinking behind New York City’s classic skyscrapers. The development will be a combination of the original landmarked Steinway building designed in 1925 by Warren & Wetmore, and a new tower addition designed by our collaborators SHoP Architects on the adjacent site. The tower’s form multiplies the set-back to present a feathered, rather than a stepped profile. The terra-cotta facades and bronze filigree aim to bring back the quality, materiality and details of historic New York towers, while taking advantage of the latest technology to push the limits of engineering and fabrication.
The project will feature full floor and duplex apartments with 360-degree views and unparalleled views of Central Park. Topping out at over 1,400 feet, when completed it will be among the tallest towers in the city and the most slender skyscraper in the world. 111 West 57th Street is being developed in partnership with Property Markets Group and is being built by JDS Construction Group with completion slated for early 2018.
